Become a member of Thoroughbred Park and be seen in all the right places!
You may join as a member or renew your membership online. Simply click on one of the buttons to the right to make your selection. Alternatively you may telephone the Club Administration for assistance on 6204 0000.
Full Members – The annual subscription of $155 (30-59 years of age) entitles the member to one badge and an associates badge may be purchased for $95
Senior – People 60 years and over can join the Club as Senior Members for an annual subscription of $95 and can purchase an associate badge for $60.
Associate Member - An Associate Member is an annual subscription and can only be purchased by a full member or senior member. Voting rights and the purchase of members tickets are not applicable to associate members.
Young – People between the ages of 18 and 29 years can join the Club as Young Members for an annual subscription of $95 per year.
All prices include GST. All membership subscriptions are due on 1 July each year.
Please note that we do not pro-rata Club memberships under any circumstances.
MEMBERS FACILITIES - Members have full use of the Queen Elizabeth Grandstand at all times provided they meet the required dress standard. The Queen Elizabeth Grandstand contains the Winning Post Bar, Thoroughbred Club, Black Opal Room and the members' grandstand seating.
WINNING POST BAR - GROUND LEVEL - The Winning Post Bar provides light refreshments, ACTTAB, and full bar facilities. This bar is open to the public for standard race meetings however is reserved for members and member's reserve ticket holders on Black Opal Stakes/Canberra Cup Day and Melbourne Cup Day.
BLACK OPAL ROOM - LEVEL 2 - The Black Opal Room provides a carvery lunch, light refreshments and full bar facilities. Members may reserve tables in the Black Opal Room for a booking fee of $25, permanent table bookings are available however at present there is a waiting list. For further information regarding bookings, please contact the office during business hours on (02) 6204 0000.
THE THOROUGHBRED CLUB - LEVEL 1 - This club is open to members and associate member card holders and ticket holders on race days. Full Australian Prices Network screens, gaming machines, ACTTAB, and full bar facilities are available. During the week the Thoroughbred Club is open Wednesday, Saturday and selected public holidays and is open to members and social members on these days. Pies and sandwiches and bar facilities are only available race days & Saturdays. Opening times are 11.30am-5pm with extensions to accommodate earlier or later race schedules.
FREE MEMBERS' CAR PARK - This facility, situated at the northern end of the grounds and is available to all members. Members are issued with a 'Members Car Park Pass' which provides access to this car park.
DRESS REGULATIONS – Please note that dress regulations for admittance to the members reserve and Queen Elizabeth Stand are as follows: Badge and ticket holders are expected to maintain a suitable dress standard in keeping with the dignity of the stand. Gentlemen’s standard is neat casual dress, with collared shirt unless worn under a sports coat and appropriate footwear. Thongs, shorts, running shoes and singlets are unacceptable (dress jeans allowed). Women’s standard is neat and casual.
NOTE : Windcheaters, parkas, tracksuit tops, thongs, sneakers or running shoes are not considered a suitable standard. Notwithstanding the above, the Club reserves the right to exercise discretion regarding dress.
MEMBERS GUESTS – Members may purchase day tickets to the members’ stand for their guests at a cost of $15 on non-feature days. On feature days, MEMBERS ONLY may purchase 2 members stand tickets for guests. Please contact the office during business hours to obtain costs for the relevant feature days i.e. Melbourne Cup Race Day and Black Opal Stakes/Canberra Cup.
*New members joining one month prior to a feature race meeting are eligible to purchase up to 2 guest passes. New Members joining within one month of a feature race meeting are not eligible to purchase additional guest ticketing to the members' area.
RACEDAY FACILITIES – The club provides direct telecast of interstate events on race days. An ATM is located in the Thoroughbred Club and at the ACTTAB outlet in the Winning Post Bar and in the betting ring on Melbourne Cup day and Black Opal/Canberra Cup race days..
RECIPROCAL MEMBERSHIP AGREEMENTS – exist with the following clubs: Australian Turf Club (Not available Randwick in 2012, for Rosehill, Canterbury and Warwick Farm pay admission and receive free membership card for the day for standard race meetings, for carnival meetings the day membership card must be purchased), Alice Springs Turf Club, Brisbane Racing Club (Doomben & Eagle Farm, excludes Winter Racing Carnival, Exhibition Wednesday Races and Melbourne Cup Day), Cairns Jockey Club, Gold Coast Turf Club, Gosford Race Club, Illawarra Turf Club, Melbourne Racing Club (Caulfield and Sandown), Moonee Valley Racing Club (except on Cox Plate Day), Murrumbidgee Turf Club (except Wagga Cup Day), Newcastle Jockey Club, Orange Jockey Club, South Australian Jockey Club, Tasmanian Turf Club, Warrnambool Racing Club, Western Australian Turf Club and Wyong Race Club. Canberra Racing Club members pay the normal entry fee into these clubs’ race meetings and obtain members’ stand tickets from the Race Day Office.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING - is held in October each year. Special business at this meeting in the form of a notice of motion must be lodged with the Secretary no later than 42 days prior to the meeting.
VOTING - In accordance with the club's Constitution "No member shall be competent to vote on any occasion unless that member has held continuous membership for at least 12 months immediately prior to the occasion on which it is proposed that the member might vote".
ELECTION OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS - In accordance with the club's Constitution a committee member candidate "....must be a financial member of the club for at least 12 months immediately prior to the time of nomination" and must comply with all other terms in the constitution..
