Winter racing returns to Acton Synthetic Track

In preparation for Winter racing, Thoroughbred Park’s synthetic track has been given the all-clear by Racing NSW Stewards to allow racing to resume on Friday 26 May 2017 on the Acton track.

Two official barrier trials  were held on the Acton Track on 10 May with 10 runners in the first and 7 in the second trials.  Chief Steward Jim Walshe met collectively with all jockeys who rode in the trials to seek their opinion of the track surface.  All riders were pleased with the track and the lack of kick back and agreed the track was suitable for racing.  Stewards inspected the track prior to and after the barrier trials.

The Acton Track is a benefit to racing in Winter for a variety of reasons.  It provides an even surface at a better track rating than what can be expected on turf tracks through the Winter months.

Racing on the Acton track also allows time for the turf course proper to be renovated in readiness for Spring racing.
