There is only one place you have to be in Canberra on TAB Melbourne Cup day - Thoroughbred Park. The TAB Melbourne Cup Race Day is one of the biggest social events of the year for racing fans, socialites and fashionista's alike, who will witness the running of the TAB Melbourne Cup on the big screen in Flemington whilst surrounded by the atmosphere and excitement of local racing.

The iconic TAB Melbourne Cup Race day is the perfect opportunity to network with clients, entertain guests or socialise with friends and work collegaues and Thoroughbred Park have a range of hospitality options to choose from to suit all budgets.

Ticketing Information

Tickets: Tickets are available at the gate or you can pre-purchase through Ticketek online or at a Ticketek agency (Booking fees apply for both options). Tickets are not available for purchase from the race course administration office.  For further information please phone 02 6204 0000.

*Children's Tickets (12 -17): tickets must be purchased by a parent or legal guardian. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a Parent or Legal Guardian. Strict ID checks will be in place at time of ticket purchase and on the day. Wristbands will be required as proof of id check.

**Members: Members only are permitted to purchase up to 2 (two) additional Members' Enclosure tickets. (All prices include GST). Any member who joins within 2 months of any major race meeting is not entitled to purchase additional Members' Enclosure tickets. Please note price below does not include general admission.

Become a member today to receive the benefits of Thoroughbred Park membership. Young, Full & Senior memberships available. No new memberships will be able to be purchased on Melbourne Cup Day itself.

CATCH THE BUS!

On Tuesday 1 November ACTION will be providing free charted services from Thoroughbred Park to the City Bus Station between 4.00pm and 7.30pm. Routes 56, 57 and 58 will be diverted down to Thoroughbred Park, and the Red Rapid 200 series will stop at the corner of Flemington and Randwick Roads. Use it as your base whilst still enjoying the freedom to mingle around the racecourse. View the races from your table in the reserved area with views  the track side super screen.

Bring your own picnic hamper and enjoy a prime position at a fraction of the cost.

Home Straight Shared Marquee

Thoroughbred Park Functions Venue Home Straight Shared Marquee

Spoil yourself on race day in the Home Straight Shared Marquee.

This marquee is designed for corporate and social groups. Tantilise your tastebuds with the gourmet buffet meal while viewing the races from the 300m mark or take a short stroll to view the Fashions on the field competition.

Additional Information

Parking

Public car parking is $5 per car, Members parking is free (limited number available).

Public Transport

ACTION Buses will operate throughout the course of the day, stopping directly out the front of the racecourse on Randwick Road. ACTION route 56 will operate from Belconnen and Civic along its usual route, with a detour down Randwick Road for racegoers. Free shuttle services to Civic and to our official after-race day venue Siren Bar & Restaurant in Gungahlin will operate after the races.

Important Information

Please note that strictly NO alcohol can be brought through the gates and Thoroughbred Park reserves the right to conduct bag searches. Patrons can bring a picnic lunch for general public areas, on the lawns or one of the many open areas. Please note no picnics can be brought into the members areas - Black Opal Room or Winning Post Bar.

Please note that the Fashions on the Field competition now has strict guidelines for each category entry. Categories are Classic Ladies Racewear, Classic Mens Racewear, Classic Couples Racewear. Please click here for guidelines.

The official lapel flower for the Melbourne Cup is the Yellow Rose.

Terms and Conditions -

  • Bookings are essential and payment is required at the time of booking.
  • Bookings close Friday 22th October 2016 due to catering and infrastructure arrangements.
  • Theming and decorating of marquees is encouraged however prior approvals are required.
  • No flyaway material or balloons in outdoor areas are permitted.
  • In the event of rain or extreme weather conditions no refund will be made for function room bookings, marquee bookings and picnic place bookings. 
  • Refunds will not be given after the booking date has closed for any of the hospitality options.
  • Alcohol and sharp utensils are not permitted to be brought in to the race course.
  • All bags will be searched by security upon entrance at the main gate.
  • Thoroughbred Park reserves the right to refuse entry.
