Premiership Guns Lined Up Canberra Friday

Friday’s Canberra meeting on the Acton Synthetic surface will provide another clue as to the likely winners of the sought-after 2016-17 ACT Trainer and Jockey Premierships.

In the Trainer Premiership Keith Dryden-Scott Collings (22) hold a one win lead over Nick Olive (21) with Matt Dale lurking on (13).

In the Jockey Premiership Matt Cahill (19) has a two win lead over Brendan Ward (17) with a gap to apprentice Brock Ryan (12) and Richard Bensley (10).

At Friday’s meeting Dale and Olive particularly look to have nice chances.

In Race 3 the Bid Williams CL1 On The Fiddle resumes off a long break for Dale off a heavily-backed Wagga Maiden win on debut. He’d go close with a repeat of that and is a strong market watch. Olive has Chuckles engaged who relished getting on to the synthetic when just missing here 2 weeks ago. Ward rides again.

In Race 4 the Pegasus – Riding For The Disabled Maiden Ward and Olive link again on I Am Kalani who was just beaten her on debut off a trial win and is sure to have taken learning. The 2yo I Am Invincible filly gets her chance to break through.

In Race 6 the Riverview Group BM 60 the Dryden-Collings Star Aspiration will be peaking with Cahill in the saddle and looks well-placed at the weights. Lord Denman for Olive didn’t have the best of it here the latest as favourite and sharp improvement wouldn’t surprise. He’s got plenty of upside.

In Race 7 the Actstreme Rendering Maiden, Dale has Liquid Dinna and Limelight engaged and they look the leading chances along with the Robert and Luke Price-trained Scent Of A Woman with Kathy O’Hara down to ride.

In Race 8 the Hvac Canberra BM 55 Ward links with Olive aboard impressive last start winner Let It Roll who clearly rates to repeat. He should have the speed to clear this field from the tricky gate. Dryden-Collings have the improving Background Scalper engaged in the same race with Cahill booked and he’s certainly up to this at best.
