A pain for Karuta

Outstanding nominations have been received for this Sunday’s Kamberra Wine Company Black Opal Stakes. The $250,000 Listed Kamberra Wine Company Black Opal Stakes has attracted 31 nominations which makes for an interesting scenario when acceptances close at 11am on Thursday.

The possibility of a “match race” between the two undefeated fillies Pane in the Glass and Karuta Queen would attract the attention or the racing public throughout Australia.  Both fillies are flashy chestnuts who race on the pace and both have “blown away” their opposition to date.

Pane in the Glass has had three starts for three wins including the Inglis Classic and Karuta Queen has had four starts for four wins including the Magic Millions.

Leading Sydney trainers David Payne, Clarry Connors and Gerald Ryan all have multiple nominations for the race.
