Norm Gardner Looking To Boost Impressive Season Record

Canberra trainer Norm Gardner continues to enjoy his best ever season with 16 winners already posted at a strike rate of 21%.

And he’s been the punters pal returning a profit on turnover of 100%.

Gardner lines up three runners at Friday’s meeting on the new Acton surface at Canberra.

Upper House and Caccini debut in the Open 2 and Law Of The Land resumes in the BM65.

Caccini comes off a Canberra trial win and Gardner says she’s a nice filly who will make a better three year old. “She’s still a bit new but I give her a good each-way chance,” he says.

“Upper House has surprised me. He’s a home-bred who we thought would make a late 3yo, but his trial was much better than it looked and Matt (jockey Matt Cahill) was very positive about the run. I think he’s a good chance.”

Gardner says Law Of The Land is ready to go.

“It’s a lovely race for him at best. He’s jumped out well and is ready for it and can run a cheeky race.”

Gardner says the new Acton track has settled in well and has provided a true racing surface at trials. “It has a bit of give and I am confident it will race well.”
