Gatewood for Centenary Cup

By: Racing and SportsWednesday, 27 February 2013: Geelong Cup winner Gatewood is an early entry from the Chris Waller stable  for  the ACTTAB Canberra Centenary Cup on Kamberra Wine Company Black Opal Stakes day at Thoroughbred Park Canberra  on  10 March  2013.

Now under the care of Chris Waller, UK import Gatewood resumed last Saturday in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m) at Warwick Farm where he ran sixth behind Alma’s Fury.

Likely to be aimed towards the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) in April, Gatewood could have his first start over the trip this campaign in the Listed Canberra Cup (2000m) at Thoroughbred Park on March 10.

Gatewood is one of three early Chris Waller-trained entries for the bumper program at Canberra’s Thoroughbred Park with 2011 Sydney Cup winner Stand To Gain also nominated for the Sydney Cup.

Chasing a third straight win, the Gerry Harvey-owned Riva De Lago is an early entry for the Listed National Sprint (1400m).

The Danny Williams-trained Court Connection is the other early entry for the Canberra Cup.

2012 Canberra Cup winner Fill The Page is entered in the National Sprint after an injury enforced spell along with the Brett Cavanough’s new acquisition Niblick .
