Paul Facoory Joins Canberra’s Training Ranks
Long-time Toowoomba trainer Paul Facoory is the latest addition to Canberra’s training ranks.
Facoory moved to the capital four weeks ago and has 11 horses in work with more to come down.
The former New Zealander will line up two runners at Friday’s meeting on the Acton surface — Swindlers Miss in Race 1 and Quite Magical in Race 7 and both resume.
Facoory rode on the flat and over the fences in New Zealand and later worked with a number of leading stables.
“I moved to Toowoomba 16 years ago and had a lot of success and then a year ago relocated to the Gold Coast.
“But I have owners scattered across Australia and came to the decision that re-establishing outside Queensland would better serve their interests and the stable’s.
“I am friends with former leading Canberra trainer John Morrissey and he suggested Canberra as an ideal training location.”
Facoory says he and is son have been warmly welcomed by the local racing fraternity and have quickly settled in.
“The facilities here are excellent and it is a very professional operation and the availability of the Acton is a plus especially in winter.”
As for the winter cold, Facoory says as a former Kiwi he’s actually looking forward to getting back to a four season routine.
Facoory’s two runners on Friday rate strong chances at best and he says they have been well prepared for their assignments.
He will also have the unraced Uno That lining up in Friday’s trial.
“I trained his brother and he won six races and he will get a journey.”
