Laying Has Commenced Of New Acton Racetrack

Work had commenced laying the new Acton synthetic race track at Canberra

Using wax and fibres imported from Germany and mixing plant is operational at Thoroughbred Park and the laying process will continue next week.

Canberra Racing Club CEO Peter Stubbs says work is progressing well and it is still anticipated the track will be ready for racing on 9 September.

For the first time in many years the club has been forced to race throughout the winter on the heavy course proper while the Action was renewed.

Meanwhile, at NSW Racing’s Night Of Champions at Randwick on Thursday, Canberra sprinter Fell Swoop took out the Country Horse of the Year award for trainer Matt Dale and connections.

Fell Swoop is currently being prepared for a spring campaign.

Another Canberra star, Single Gaze, had his first jump-out on Wednesday at Canberra and is also heading into high-level spring racing.
