Maryore To Race at Doomben Saturday

Provincial Championship winner Maryore arrived in the Gold Coast this morning and will race in Saturday’s Tails Stakes at Doomben (Listed 1600m).

Canberra trainer Phillip Courtney says Maryore pulled exceptionally well from her commanding win at Randwick and the decision was taken to take up the Doomben challenge.

“This will be were her biggest test to date but she deserves her opportunity and if she performs well we’ll look at others races up there,” Courtney says.

“She has won up to 1800m and has come through the trip to Queensland in fine order.

“Michael Cahill is booked to ride and she handles all conditions.”

Courtney says the stable will be represented in Sydney again when Dyfield competes in the TAB.com.au Highway Handicap on Saturday.

The gelding will be third-up with Tim Clark to ride and Courtney expects an improved run — while noting there are some smart horses engaged.

To commence a busy weekend he says he’ll have two runners at Canberra on Friday including Running Broke who will be improved third-up.
