Magic Millions Quartet For Canberra

At least four Magic Million yearlings will be making their way to Canberra.

The 2017 Magic Millions Sales conclude today Tuesday) at the Gold Coast with 55 further lots up for sale in the Book 3 Catalogue.

Leading Canberra trainers, Nick Olive and Matt Dale, both purchased two horses from the Book 1 and 2 Catalogues.

Olive paid $150,000 for a colt by Yarraman Park sire Hinchinbrook out of a Strategic mare. He was one of 28 Hinchinbrook’s sold from Books 1 and 2.

Olive also paid $30,000 for a filly by Emirates Park sire, Dream Ahead out of Chirurgo Dame.

Matt Dale paid $140,000 for filly by Emirates Park sire Artie Schiller out of Swerta Bella, and 65,000 for a colt by Newgate Farm sire Eurozone out of Perpendicular.

Nick Olive says he liked the Hinchinbrook colt the minute he laid eye on him.

“He’s an athletic type and a fantastic mover and I was very happy to get him at the price I did.”

Olive says there has been strong interest in the colt with just a couple of shares still available.

“The Dream Ahead filly was a good buy at $30,000. The dam has had two to race and they are both winners and one has a very good record in Hong Kong,” he says.

“I trained the dam (Chirurgo Dame) and she was a lovely horse who was not able to reach her full potential on the race track.”

Single Gaze — Olive’s Group 1 winning mare — will trial on Friday at Canberra in preparation for her autumn campaign.

Olive says he “couldn’t be happier with her.”
