Just A Blur Ready For Randwick – Paul Jones

One of Canberra’s leading mares — Just A Blur — returns to racing at Randwick on Saturday.

The winner of last season’s Goulburn Cup and Wagga Town Plate, Just A Blur is trained by  the Barbara Joseph and Paul Jones partnership — and Jones says the 6yr old will come back to racing better than ever.

Just A Blur resumes in the $150,000 City Tattersalls Club Nivison Group 3 over 1200m and has had two unofficial jump-outs in preparation.

Jones believes Just A Blur is well-weighted in the Nivison and is hoping for a solid tempo to enable the mare to demonstrate her exceptional finishing speed.

A bit of sting out of the ground would also assist.

The mare has raced credibly in Group company in the past, including finishing 1.7L behind Group 1 winner Cosmic Endeavour in the 2014 Scone Guineas.

Her highest rated run was achieved when she placed sixth in March in the Group 2 Emancipation Stakes.

A pleasing run on Saturday could see Just A Blur headed to Melbourne for a Listed fillies and mares race on Cup day.

Winona Costin is booked to ride Just A Blur in the Nivison.

Joseph-Jones will also travel D’Beak to Randwick for the Highway Handicap.

Jones says he has a lot of time for the horse, who last start didn’t have the best of luck placing second at Canberra.

Jones wasn’t disappointed with Wonderbolt’s run in last Saturdays Sensis Dash at Randwick where he got back and had too much too do.

He says the firm track acted against the More Than Ready 6yo.
