John Singleton To Keynote At Pre-Black Opal Autumn Luncheon
The build-up continues for the Mercedes Benz Canberra Black Opal Stakes Day — Canberra’s premier race meeting. The Canberra Racing Club has announced that businessman and race horse owner and breeder John Singleton will be the keynote speaker at the Thoroughbred Club of Australia Annual Autumn Luncheon to be held at Thoroughbred Park on 3 March 2017.
Singleton is stepping in for Alan Jones who had to withdraw for medical reasons. Canberra Racing CEO Peter Stubbs says the luncheon has become a highlight on the Canberra racing calendar and previous speakers have included Gai Waterhouse and Gerry Harvey. He says Singleton carries on the tradition. “John is one of Australia’s most influential racing personalities and a gifted public speaker. “He brings not only an in-depth knowledge of racing, but broader experience in sport, racing and the media.” Stubbs says Casino Canberra have also taken naming rights for the luncheon as part of a broader sponsorship where the Casino takes the naming rights for the $130,000 National Sprint on Black Opal Day (Sunday 5 March).
The Autumn Luncheon will be held from 12 noon to 3:00 pm on Friday 3 March and tickets are $140 per person all inclusive. It is open to the general public and booking close on Friday 24 February 2017 via the Club on 02 6204 0000.
