John Singleton A.O. to headline Autumn Luncheon

John Singleton, business man and racing fantatic has been announced as the keynote speaker at The Thoroughbred Club of Australia (Canberra Branch) Annual Autumn Luncheon to be held on 3 March in Canberra. Previously Alan Jones was announced as special guest however has had to withdraw due to medical reasons.

Now in its third year, the event has quickly grown to become a highlight of racing’s social calendar, with previous events all selling out, attracting the likes of Gai Waterhouse and Gerry Harvey as speakers.

Thoroughbred Park Chief Executive Peter Stubbs is thrilled that John Singleton will now continue the tradition. “John Singleton is one of Australia’s most in uential media personalities and is an incredibly gifted speaker” he said. “He promises to entertain with not only his in- depth knowledge of racing but his broader background in sport, racing and media”

Thoroughbred Park have also announced that Casino Canberra have taken on naming rights sponsorship for this years’ luncheon as part of a broader deal that will also see the Casino take naming rights of the $130,000 National Sprint on Black Opal Stakes Day.

Casino Canberra General Manager Rhiannon Bach said that a partnership with Thoroughbred Park made sense. “I’m really excited to see Casino Canberra partner with Thoroughbred Park on the Autumn Annual Lunch, Melbourne Cup race day and Black Opal day” she said. “Both brands offer rst class entertainment product to Canberrans and we’re looking forward to growing our relationship”.

Singleton is a part-owner of Vinery Stud and owner of Strawberry Hills Stud, he has been a part owner of racehorses Strawberry Hills and More Joyus among many others, started the Magic Millions Sales company with partner Gerry Harvey, is listed in the Business Review Weekly’s Rich 200 list and is the half-owner of the Matty Johns Show. Many may remember the Qantas commercials with the children’s choir singing “I Still Call Australia Home” of which he was the Exectuvie Creative Director.

The Autumn Luncheon is from 12 noon to 3pm on Friday 3 March. Tickets are $140 per person all inclusive and bookings close 24 February 2017. The luncheon is open to the general public.
