Hong Kong Opportunity Beckons For Single Gaze

A successful spring campaign could see star Canberra mare racing in Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club has sounded out trainer Nick Olive about the possibility of Single Gaze competing at the International Race Day on 10 December.

The $4 million Hong Kong Cup (2000m) and the $3 million Hong Kong Vase (2400m) are possibilities for Single Gaze and Olive says she has had the required inoculations to enable her to travel and compete.

Olive says she’s yet to be officially invited, but of she races well in Melbourne in the spring an invitation would be probable.

Single Gaze showed she is on track winning a Canberra trial on Friday with race-rider Kathy O’Hara up.

She is being prepared for the Melbourne way of going and if all goes to plan will kick off in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on 2 September on her way the Caulfield Cup
