Fell Swoop Spelling For Spring Campaign

¬†Classy Canberra sprinter Fell Swoop will miss the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap following his defeat in Saturday’s Doomben 10,000.

Trainer Matt Dale says Fell Swoop is being spelled in Queensland before returning to Canberra to be prepared for a spring campaign.

Fell Swoop got caught in a speed battle in the Doomben 10,000 and did well to hold on finishing 2.5L behind the winner Music Magnate.

Jockey Zac Purton was one of three hoops questioned by stewards over their race tactics.

Dale says Fell Swoop had no chance under the circumstances and that a number of factors contributed to the suicidal pace.

Dale says he says he’s still to map out a spring program for Fell Swoop and there are plenty of options including the Manikato Stakes and the VCR Sprint Classic at the top level.

He says the horse still has plenty to give and will be very competitive at Group 1 level over the next few years.
