Eight is enough for Olive
Leading Canberra based trainer Nick Olive will be well represented at Canberra on Tuesday with eight gallopers engaged over the seven race card program.
Currently sitting second in this season's Canberra Racing Club Trainers Premiership Olive hopes to kick the meeting off on a winning note with three-year-old filly Our Penny Girl set to resume in the first race.
Having mixed her form in her maiden preparation Olive is confident she has come back in good order and expects her to measure up well.
"She has come back really well actually," Olive said.
"She's gone really well in her jump-outs and her work has been great so I'm really expecting a really bold showing from her on Tuesday."
Although a shade disappointing at Nowra last start Olive is confident recent stable edition Croupier can bounce back on his home track as he felt he just requires a little bit of luck from the poor draw.
"I was a bit disappointed in his latest effort at Nowra but he did have excuses on that occasion," Olive said.
"He's going really well and I expect him to be in the firing line as well it's just he needs some luck from the wide draw."
The lightly raced Extreme Shot has been racing in good form of late having notched up his second win in last three starts at Queanbeyan last time out.
While Olive admits he will have to raise the bar again on Tuesday Olive is confident he can make the grade.
"He's done well since his win at Queanbeyan," Olive said.
"It is a bit of step up in grade for him on Tuesday but the horses is fit and well and it will be good to see how he measures up."
New stable edition Contrite Heart made a winning debut at Queanbeyan last start and is expected to go in with the job at Canberra on Tuesday.
Previously with the Grahame Begg stable her performance last start was successful in recording a new career peak and appears back on track.
"She was very well placed in that race at Queanbeyan last start as it wasn't a very strong affair and she just proved too good for them," Olive said.
"We haven't done much with her since then but she's come through the race well and after the claim you expect her to be a good show in that race."
