Damien Oliver To Ride Fell Swoop In Victory Stakes

Leading Melbourne hoop Damien Oliver has been booked to ride Canberra’s Fell Swoop when he makes his Queensland debut.

Oliver will reunite with Fell Swoop in the Group 2 Victory Stakes to be run at Doomben on April 30.

Oliver has ridden the Matthew Dale-trained gelding twice for wins in Melbourne in the Chandler McLeod Stakes and in the Testa Rossa Stakes last spring.

Fell Swoop has been ridden by different jockeys in each of his three runs this campaign, beginning with Glyn Schofield when a close second in the 2016 Oakleigh Plate.

Brenton Avdulla was aboard when Fell Swoop ran second in the 2016 The Galaxy, before Zac Purton took over for Fell Swoop’s last-start second to Chautauqua in the TJ Smith Stakes.

Fell Swoop is expected to push on to the BTC Cup, the Doomben 10,000 and the 2016 Stradbroke Handicap at the Brisbane winter carnival.
