Canberra Trainer Norm Gardner — The Highwayman

Canberra trainer Norm Gardner continues to rack-up the winners

The boutique Canberra yard is striking at nearly 30% in the 2016-17 racing season with 12 winners from 41 runners — and delivering stable followers with a 175% profit on turnover!

Gardner only has 10-12 horses in work at any one time and enjoyed his best-ever season in 2011-12 with 16 winners.

With more than six months until the new season he is well on track to exceed that figure.

Gardner has produced multiple Highway Handicap wins with Atom Eve (2), Bootlegging and more recently Le Cavalier — and last Saturday Zuzzudio was just lipped out in the event at Randwick.

Gardner has used a spread of riders with Matthew Cahill delivering the most wins (4) at a strike rate of 57%.

Gardner has two runners accepted for Wagga today (Tuesday) — Empyrean and Whisper My Name and has nominated Le Cavalier and Snowbrook for Friday’s Canberra meeting.
