CANBERRA TRAINED HORSES EXCLUDED FROM HIGHWAY RACES FROM AND INCLUDING 9 DECEMBER 2017

The Canberra Racing Club (the Club) appreciate the opportunity the Racing NSW Chairman and CEO provided the Club back in July to consider our submission and state our case to remain in Highway races.

Whilst we are disappointed with the outcome of the review to exclude Canberra trained horses from Highway Races, we respect the decision as it is prerogative of Racing NSW to set the conditions of entry for its races.

The Club will consider making another request to have the decision reviewed in 2018 when there is additional data on Highway race participation without Canberra horses and based upon our belief that the very successful Highway races initiative is in fact more successful with Canberra horses being included, in terms of field sizes, punter interest and competitiveness.
