Canberra Cup Target For Murraguldrie

Capricorn Park- trained Murraguldrie remains Canberra Cup bound following his big win in Friday’s $50,000 Bathurst Cup (1800m).

Murraguldrie ($3) was last on turning and powered down the outside to beat equal favourite Red Dubai and Uncle Sugar.

It was Murraguldrie’s second win this preparation having saluted on 28 December in a BM67 at Warwick Farm

Trainer Rob Potter has always had an opinion of the Zariz gelding but has had to nurse him through a number of leg injuries.

Potter was confident going into the race and with Matt Cahill up Murraguldrie showed his customary turn of foot at the business end off a solid tempo.

Potter says Murraguldrie is “a very good horse”.

He says Murraguldrie has been brought along conservatively with the Canberra Cup in mind and is “really on track” for the feature event.
