Atom Eve Back In The Winter

Promising Canberra 3yo Atom Eve has gone to the spelling paddock and will return to racing in the winter.

Atom Eve will thereby miss next month’s Mercedes Benz Black Opal meeting in the Capital and the Country Championships.

The I Am Invincible filly impressed winning a recent TAB HighwayHandicap at Randwickand trainer Norm Gardner says she was going to the paddock win or lose.

“She went straight out after Randwick and she will come back to the stable in a month,” Gardner says.

“She is still a Cl2 and at this stage we will set her for another Highway Handicap in Sydney first-up and then see what comes up after that — perhaps something at the Wagga Carnival in May.

“I didn't want to step her up to 1400m just yet, and with good weather still about it’s a good time to give her a break.

“Even after two weeks in the paddock she has furnished … with the rain we’ve had the paddocks are green… and she’s looking terrific.”

Atom Eve’s sister Nights On Fire will fly the stable flag during the Country Championships.

“She’s a 65 and there will be a lot around that benchmark so it’s a matter of getting her in. She’s going very well.

“She placed in a tough race at Canberra the other day (BM75) and was three wide the trip.

“And she was left in front too early when she placed in both her Sydney runs before … and it makes it pretty hard.”
